The Reckoning I
By Egypt
Water dripped from her iridescent skin to pool on the floor Looking up at the moonless sky, realizing the opening of the door Standing in her nakedness, fresh from her cleansing bath Understanding with perfect clarity of her appointed path The Dark One walked behind her, overwhelmed with beauty and dark grace Sensing her troubled emotions, he gently turned her, to look on her face `You must not let the past cloud your future.` He quietly said Taking her in his arms, he closed his eyes, `You need your rest, go to bed.` She said nothing and moved not an inch when she realized His words of beauty, comfort and confidence had never been lies He pulled her away and looked deep into icy blue eyes He furrowed his brow and frowned when he saw the tear slide 'Mourning our past deaths is something I must do.' 'We left our daughters helpless, without US, as our soul's flew.' 'Destined or not, we should have fought for their sake.' 'And for that, there is something that I've learned to do, and that's hate.' 'Not for those who took us, or our girls - I could never do that.' 'But for you and me, we failed, were weak and that's a fact.' 'I've pondered since remembering if I shall ever see them again.' 'Not in this lifetime, but further lives we'll lead, since time began.' Written April 11th, 2002 © on Apr 11 2002 01:12 PM PST 18 • 0 • 10
